Arthaus High-Rise

Sometimes even the most extraordinary views benefit from thoughtful refinement — an opportunity MSD embraced when a couple relocated from their Old City row-house to a luxury high-rise in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. Our involvement from the project’s inception ensured that the finishes, architectural lighting, and overall spatial planning were seamlessly aligned with the design vision. The floor plan was opened to maximize sightlines, allowing the nearly 1,300-square-foot terrace to remain fully visible from the main living spaces. Extensive custom millwork and furnishings shape the interior, including warm gray cerused rift-cut white oak wall paneling and integrated bookcases. In the dining area, a built-in buffet is paired with textured glass cabinetry, balancing beauty with everyday functionality. Above the dining table, a sculptural fixture consisting of multiple pendants provides both functional lighting and a striking visual centerpiece, reflecting light throughout the space and reinforcing the airy, open atmosphere. Nearby, a lacquered custom cabinet was carefully matched to the tones of the living room seating. This signature hue carries throughout the residence — extending even to the terrace furnishings creating a cohesive dialogue between interior and exterior living.
