Gladwyne Barn
Hard to believe, but this 19th century barn was not always the splendid entertaining space that it is today. In fact, had it not been for the dedication of the clients companied with the vision of MSD and Archer + Buchanan Architects, it may have been torn down. The goal of the interior renovation was to preserve the architectural integrity of the space, yet create a functional and sophisticated atmosphere. The use of local, reclaimed materials pays homage to the existing landscape and adds rustic charm. New materials, like weathered whitewashed cabinets and natural soapstone countertops blend seamlessly with the family heirlooms, handcrafted furniture and lighting that are the true focal points of the space.
