In 2010 MSD relocated 17 stories from the top floor of the Philadelphia Building to the ground floor retail space at Juniper and Sansom Streets in Center City, Philadelphia. Renovating this former barbershop turned antique shop into a functional design studio was a true labor of love. An upper level loft space was converted into two custom outfitted offices featuring rift cut oak millwork throughout. A custom dividing wall and railing made of sustainable reed-infused resin divides the upper space, yet lets light from the floor to ceiling windows in, keeping the space bright. Michael’s personal art collection adorns the walls and adds splashes of color in an otherwise black and white color palette.
